For March, we reach out to a Melbourne artist that goes by the name of DEER. We'd been aware of him for some time, but after his latest releases we had to hit him up immediately to see if he could step up to the plate for this month's edition of MONTHLY MIX!
In only a short time, we've seen Deer aka Young Doe aka Lil Fawn, support the likes of Nina Las Vegas, Alison Wonderland, Shlohmo, Ryan Hemsworth, MssingNo and Djemba Djemba. Alongside finding his own tracks being supported by some very reputable names, such as RL Grime and Ryan Hemsworth. His latest offering 'All Alone' has seen him team up with another talented Melbourne artist 'Martin King', a great fit here with Martin bringing some smooth sultry vocals to a beautiful piece of production. The release of this track was also accompanied by a stellar film clip, definitely worth a watch.
We of course had to ask how he used his 30 minutes for this month's featured mix, alongside a few other generic, yet essential questions.
WHAT HAVE YOU WENT FOR WITH THIS MIX:
I love showcasing new music. In this mix I've featured tracks from Waterhouse's new EP out on Airmax 97's Label Decisions, some new tracks from my friend Strict Face and Headstone and some unreleased edits and tracks from myself
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING WHAT YOU DO ?
I started roughly 5 years ago but 3 years ago I started to take it more seriously, I started DJing a little bit then I started producing.
WHAT SWUNG YOU INTO ELECTRONIC MUSIC?
Skate videos I think, I grew up skating so a lot of the music that I was listening to was from skate videos I enjoyed. My dad also showed heaps of music growing up as well.
HOW DO YOU BEST DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND
Intricate club music
WHATS THE GAME PLAN FOR 2016?
Work hard. At the moment I'm working on an EP that will hopefully be out later this year, other than that keep an ear out for some singles that are potentially coming out on some compilations.
