For July we have a young up and comer hailing from Brisbane, please welcome to the stage ‘AHN‘.

With support from the likes of Ekali, FEKI and Slumberjack this young beatmaker is making strides fast, in only a year he is already found support and even rotation from massive outlets like Soulection, Majestic Casual and Tripple J, not to mention landing some big support slots. Recently we’ve seen AHN share the stage with heavyweights like Snakehips, Lunice, even Riff Raff.

We, of course, wanted to ask this rising Aussie talent a few generic, yet essential questions to get to know him a little better. Get stuck into this mix while you read and tracklisting is on soundcloud.

Now, let’s jump into this month’s mixtape, how have you chosen to use your 30 mins? This mix closely resembles what I play at a live show. It’s a mix between funk, rnb and hip hop, also features some of my friend’s music as well.

How long have you been doing what you do? I have been making music since January 2016, So it has been a year and 7 months now.

What swung you into electronic music? When I was young I would listen to music of all genres, that helped me broaden my horizons and got me into electronic music. Close to when I decided to make music, soulection artist such as Esta, Mr Carmack and Sam g were the main producers that inspired me.

How do you best describe your sound? A blend of Hip hop, Rnb soul and Funk

What’s coming up for ANH? I have a new EP i’m currently finishing, it’s gonna be very special, 3 singles are already released. The whole project will be available soon, release date yet to be announced!

The whole Aussie scene is growing by the min, so many gems out there now. So, if you could pick any other Aussie to collab with in 17, who would it be? I mean there are so many people in Australia who I would love to work with right now ….. Hmmmmm, I suppose Sydney duo Cosmos Midnight are definitely some artists that spring to mind, love everything they have been doing.

& what about one hot tip, one act you think is about to pop & will be the next big thing? My friend from Melbourne Matt Cicero also known as Ojikae is on his way to being the next big thing. Although he doesn’t have much to show at this time his potential is incredible.

Lastly, hope this is not too personal, but if you had to pick one, avo’s or mangoes for rest of your life where would your allegiance lay? Smashed avos for sure.
