Wow, we’ve got another freak of nature here (and we mean this in the nicest way possible), but they really do get younger and younger. We’ve presented some young artists in the past, like Cosmo’s Midnight at the time, or Tyler Touche, but this one has to take the cake. At the Age of 15, please welcome to the plate SHEPH.
This isn’t a novelty artist, where you’re kinda only impressed because the kid’s so young, “Oh, his pretty good for his age”. Sheph’s music absolutely stands up on its own, the only downside about promoting young emerging talent’s like this is it makes you feel so old! As I’ve mentioned before it boggles the brain to think people like this are making quality production at this age, when I was that age I was more concerned about riding my BMX around town, I don’t even think I would have had my first make-out session yet.
Beau aka Sheph, is an artist coming out of the south coast, who already has quite a few tracks behind him. His latest is a track called ‘What We’ve Got’ which is maybe his most polished yet, for this track he’s teamed up with VEAZAH for vocals and the results speak for themselves. A poppy kinda track with a nice groove that hits you in the good spot, alongside some really clean sound design and nice use of space.
Sheph was featured on the Tripple J’s Unearthed HIGHlights in 2016 and since has also been given the tick of approval from Mr. Dave Ruby Howe. We’re looking forward to watching him progress and perfect his craft, as well as seeing where he will take his music next. To get to know Beau a little better, we through a few quick fire questions at him earlier in the week.
What have you went for & how have you chosen to use your 30 mins in this mix? A Little bit of Kaytranada, Some PNAU and an Unreleased Track of Mine. The mix is a selection of songs I am vibing at the moment and some old favorites.
How long have you been doing what you do? I have been producing for about 5 years, since I was 10yrs old.
What swung you into electronic music? Playing music with my Dad on his synthesizers and drum machines really got me into the whole idea of producing my own music. When I was 10 dad showed me FL studio and the basics of how to use it. From that point on I’ve been learning new things everyday and having fun making music!
How do you best describe your sound?Electro- Lounge&Electronica. Those two probably best describe my sound.
The whole Aussie scene is growing by the minute, so many gems out there now. So, if you could pick any other Aussie to collab with in 2017, who would it be? It would have to be either PNAU, Empire of the Sun or Kučka
And what about one hot tip, one act you think is about to pop & will be the next big thing? Jonti, doing really cool things give him a listen.
Lastly, hope this is not too personal, but if you had to pick one, avocados or mangoes for rest of your life where would your allegiance lay? This is hard, probably mangoes though. Yeah, my allegiance would lay with mangoes.
