Alright, for this feature we reached out to Etima Lokondo. He’s a Sydney sider that’s been making music under the alias E.T Le Createur. ET’s music feels like it sits on a foundation of house music, but he’s definitely come up with a blend of his own, taking inspiration from many places and people outside of that genre.
Lucid Dreaming was ET’s first release that got him started out of the gates, was a great start too considering the release found its way to rotation with not only Triple J, but FBI Radio as well.
Ok, we, of course, wanted to get to know this upcoming artist a little better, so here are some quick Q’s we threw him earlier in the week. Check out the MIX here and tracklisting will be below the questions.
What have you went for & how have you chosen to use your 30 mins in this mix? It was extremely hard squeezing all my type of music into 30 min mix but hey, here I’ve selected few of my favourite tunes from Soukous, techno, deep house to afro beat to give you an idea on what LONE raver life is about.
How long have you been doing what you do? I’ve been in musical theatre since the dawn of time really! And I guess being born in kinshasa which is known as the world’s capital city of dance till you can’t feel your legs no more and also being raised and exposed to western music from the young age sort of has a tastefully effects on my subconsciously level!
I’ve been writing rhyme since high school, man! As for producing I was always that kid who loves giving ideas of sound to my friends so they’d produce something while I would mainly focus in writing then some of them lose their interest in music production due to corporate work and then in music altogether… that was the greenlight to stop relying on anyone and just start doing my own thing, man! The aspiration, courage and passion were born from then…. and it had been 3 years no stop since I’ve started!
What swung you into electronic music? Detroit kids from my high school introduced me to Chicago house. My French home boys in college made me fall in love with deep house. My Italian friends made me realised we all can’t live without techno. So here I am, I’m on this electronic path of life till death do us apart!
How do you best describe your sound? Sonically speaking I take inspirations from so many great artists and bands such as Michal Jackson, Fela kuti, david bowie, Prince, Ok jazz, Wenge musica maison mere, Quatier Latin and many more…. But to describe my sound in just III words “Modern day Beethoven” check out the last track of the mix. That’s my sound. Unreleased material! Hope you enjoy it
What’s the game plan for the new 2018? Spend more time in the studio as usual, release new material along with visual, start selling stadium and then move to NEW YORK for summer to create more awesome stuff with a whole bunch of incredible artists whom I admired the most.
What about new music then ? Oh yeh, The legendary Ribongia & I had me co-wrote his debut album intro (Which I’m highly recommending yeh) and in return he produced one of the track on my forthcoming EP which I’m yet to set the release date! IT GOES HARD!! I can’t wait for the world to hear it. And Also I’m dropping my first track of year by the end of this month… Good stuff yeh!
The whole Aussie scene is growing by the min, so many gems out there now. So, if you could pick any other Aussie to collab within 18, who would it be ?Klue, Ribongia, The Preset, Clypso, PNAU, UV boi, Nina Las Vegas and Hayley Mary from the jazabels
& what about one hot tip, one act you think is about to pop & will be the next big thing? Clypso is been my favourite so far! Her music is so unique and she is mad talented and a lovely human being in real life!! She is next. You should definitely check her music out
Lastly, hope this is not too personal, but if you had to pick one, avo’s or mangoes for rest of your life where your allegiance would lay? A raver can survive without oxygen and water but not without avocado.
